Rice Recipes Indian – As the name of this Chinese dish suggests, this 5 Spice Tofu and Bean Sprouts Rice gets its unique flavor from the famous Chinese condiment, 5 spice powder, which contains star anise, Szechuan pepper, fennel, cinnamon and cloves.
You will definitely see that no special vegetable or sauce has been used in this recipe. And this is what helps the flavor of 5 spice powder to stand out.
With soft tofu, bean sprouts and mild spring onions, this rice dish looks great, garnished with spring onions.

Material
- 1 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder
- 1/2 cup hard tofu (soy paneer)
- 1/2 cup bean sprouts
- 3 cups cooked Chinese rice
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 cup sliced white part of spring onion
- salt to taste
Decorate
2 tbsp finely chopped green onion leaves
Method
Heat the oil in a wok or a broad non-stick pan, add the spring onions and sauté on a high flame for 1 minute.
Add bean sprouts, 5 spice powder and sauté on a high flame for 1 minute.
Add the rice, sugar and salt, mix well and cook on a high flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
Add the tofu, mix gently and cook on a high flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
Serve hot garnished with spring onion leaves.
