Chaitra Navratri begins with Ghatasthapana and ends on the day of Ram Navami and Durga Navami.

Chaitra Navratri Ghatasthapana Method (Chaitra Navratri Kalash Sthapana Vidhi)
Ghatasthapana should be done on the first day of Navratri at an auspicious time and in the right way. For this, first clean the place of worship thoroughly. Make an earthen altar there or sow barley in a big earthen vessel. Now take a kalash or an earthen pot and tie a molly on its neck. Then apply tilak on the urn and fill it with water. Along with water, put intact, betel nut, coin etc. things in the urn. Now take a coconut and wrap it in a red cloth. Tie coconut and red cloth or chunni in the Raksha Sutra. After cleaning the ground, first place a vessel containing barley, then place an urn filled with water on it, then place a coconut on the lid of the urn. Now make a symbol of Swastik on the urn and install the urn near the idol of Durga ji. Keep this Kalash in the temple for 9 days.
