5 Gujarati Treats or Farsan That Go Well With a Cup of Tea

Gujarati Farsan Recipe

Gujarati Farsan Recipe – When it comes to Gujarati snacks, there is a lot to explore, whether it be the airy dhoklas or the sensitive khandvis. Here are 5 Gujarati snacks that will make the wait for tea time worthwhile and that are simple to cook at home.

  1. Khandvi Recipe

One of the most popular Gujarati snacks is this rolled-up delicate nibble. It is prepared with gramme flour and seasoned with curry leaves, coconut, and mustard seeds. With a cup of tea, this melt-in-your-mouth snack is just delightful.

Ingredients of Khandvi

  • 60 gms besan (gram flour)
  • 60 gms khatta dahi (sour yogurt)
  • 375 ml water
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp heeng (asafoetida)
  • 1/8 tsp haldi (turmeric)
  • For tempering:
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp sarson (mustard seeds)
  • 2 sasirch (dried whole red pepper)
  • 4-5 Kadhi patta (curry leaves)
  • 1 tbsp hara dhania (coriander leaves) chopped fine
  • 1/4 cup coconut, grated

HOW TO MAKE IT

1. Fill a deep, heavy-bottomed pan with flour (the pan should be large, as there is a lot of spurting while cooking).

2. Combine salt, ginger-chilli paste, chilli powder, heeng, and haldi. After incorporating a little amount of yoghurt at a time to create a lump-free, smooth paste, add the water.

3.Set the pan over high heat and bring to a boil while constantly swirling (to avoid scorching).

4.Continue to cook and stir until you attain a paste-like consistency, adjusting the heat as necessary to prevent burning.

5.You can tell it’s done when you use a stirrer to separate some of it from the rest and the bottom of the pan starts to gradually cover it (if it gets covered immediately, it is too thin). Spread a teaspoon of the batter on an ungreased surface as another test; when cold, it should come off clean.

6.Using a rubber spatula, spread the mixture as thinly as possible on an ungreased surface and allow to cool.

7.Add the sarson, kadhi patta, and sabut lal mirch to the hot oil in a small pan. Spread over the layer after a brief period of stirring. Pick up the lal mirch and set aside, then top it with all but 1 tbsp of the coriander and 1 tbsp of the coconut.

8. Cut this layer into strips and coil each strip tightly without breaking it into a scroll.

9. Set them out on a serving platter. Add the remaining coriander, coconut, and peppers as garnish. Serve.

2.Dhokla Recipe

Didn’t you see this coming? The delightfully spongy treat is popular. The wonderful thing is that it is also healthful and thus it might be a fantastic replacement for a fried snack. A besan batter or even a batter made of rice flour can be used to make steamed dhoklas at home. To try something new, try these chana dal dhokla.
